Richard,
The Selig Schlesser (or Szlesser) described in the responses above is in my tree.  His son David married my aunt.  How are you connected to this family?

Responding to Richard Stower's inquiry about Selig Schlesser, Sherri Bobish <sherribob@...> wrote:

There's a Selig Schlesser on the 1930 census in Brooklyn, born about 1890 in Poland, he's single,
a singer / theatrical, living at 95 Wilson Street as a roomer.

Selig Schlesser's 1928 petition for naturalization papers say he was born in Warsaw April 4, 1889.
They give his wife (Minnie) and children's names (Sarah & David), and that they live in Austria.

Selig arrived 1923.  The passenger manifest gives his occupation as actor, and that nearest relative left behind is wife Mindel Schlesser in Vienna.  Selig was gong to his brother Jese Schlesser in Brooklyn at 26 Moore St.

Manifest notes something about defective vision.

Vienna birth records on JewishGen list a David Bernhard SCHLÖSSER, born 1922, to Zelig SCHLÖSSER and Mindel PICK -- probably the same couple.  Other records show that Mindel and children also immigrated, and the family (by then Sidney, Minnie, Sylvia, and David) is together on the 1940 census. Much more information is on this tree on Ancestry:
