I am puzzled by the name change of Karl Scheier as well as his father, Elias Scheier to "Scheier Lowy".  As you can see by these birth documents for Karl Scheier, he was born "Karl Scheier" and his father's name is shown as "Elias Scheier", but on the birth registration document both are shown with the surname Scheier Lowy.  Lowy is not the surname of either Karl or Elias' mother, so therefore I am totally confused by the name change on the birth registration form.  Any clarification would be most appreciated.
