Sephardic World free online meeting, Sunday, 4 December 2022

Daniel Mendoza (1764-1836) shatters Jewish stereotypes. Born into a poor
London family he found fame through his fists, becoming Champion Boxer of
England. His intelligence and self-promotion made him a figure of national
note and he is credited with changing British attitudes towards Jews. Like
many celebrity sportsmen he was bad at money management and came to a sad
end. In his talk, David Mendoza will draw together the strands of Daniel
Mendoza's life: family, community, boxing and celebrity.

David Mendoza is co-founder of the Sephardic Genealogical Society and
co-Admin of The Sephardic Diaspora group on Facebook. He has appeared on the
UK version of Who Do You Think You Are?, BBC radio and DNA Detectives on New
Zealand TV. He has a background in business-to-business market research,
served on an elected committee of the UK's Market Research Society while in
his 20s, and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He descends from
Daniel Mendoza's cousin.

This meeting is on Sunday 4 December 2022 at 11am in LA, 2pm NYC, 7pm
