There are so many stories of our families, both of their struggles and their triumphs, who lived in Europe before the second World War. Many have been told by those who were characters in these stories, who were inhabitants of the many Jewish shtetls, towns and cities of pre-war Europe. We are extremely fortunate to have these stories preserved for posterity in the sacred pages of the many Yizkor books that were created after the war. Other stories are accounts of events that were told to us second-hand, perhaps from a parent or grandparent to a child. Within this exhibition at the Museum of Family History, you can read a dozen of those stories, each representing in some small way the Jewish culture and life experiences during those difficult and often tragic times.
