According to a note written by a long deceased uncle, his wife , ChayaAs 'the expert' on the family of Rav chaim of Volozhin, may I ask if you have any information about Reb Shraga Feivish Holzberg, of Kolno, Manchester, Paris and finally Yaffo, who married Rikel, daughter of Rav Chaim Simcha Soloveitchik who
dina SCHECHTER nee ABRAMOWITZ was a descendant of R' Chaim of
Volozhin. He does not detail how exactly. Her husband, Dovid and
she, were the parents the of the well known Breslev leader, R' Yacov
Meyer SCHECHTER shlit"a.
I have perused the various tree published in books on R' Chaim and the
Yeshiva and haven"t found any connection, but several family stories
resemble family histories of his descendants. The major one being that
one of our ancestress supposedly married after both her parents died
and her grandfather R' Itzaleh, R'Chaim's son took her to her chupa
(canopy). Simliar to R' Itzaleh's daughter, married to R' Shmuel
LANDAU.
I have not found any confirmation that our ancestress was R' Shmuel's daughter.
I would be happy to hear from anyone who has a more detailed tree of
R' Chaim's descendants including names that aren't in published trees
The supposed link to R'Chaim (or his family) is through the wife of R'
Shlomo KANTOR who lived in Pinsk-Karlin in the mid 19th century. I
may add that the above Chaya Dina's mother's sister, Esther, married
ROSTOVSKY who seems to have been a descendant of R' Chaim's brother,
Shlomo Zalman.
