(Edited) Hello - I wonder how common it was in the 1950s to adopt an adult as a child. My great-grandfather returned from hiding in Brussels to his home-town, family house, company etc in Germany - three years before his death in 1952. Two years before his death, he adopted his sister's son's wife (protestant if not mistaken) as his daughter. Any thoughts, do let me know. Thanks Tatia Grünbaum (Gruenbaum)
