Australia grave help: Theresia MERKESTEYN (Kew, Victoria, Australia) #photographs
Rony Golan
Dear all (& especially "down under"s),
I am looking for a photo of the grave of Theresia MERKESTEYN who (according to Victoria, Australia Death Index) died in Kew in 1981. I could not trace her grave in any of the online sites that offer images of grave stones. Any assistance in getting the full burial details and moreover a photo of the grave will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -- Rony Golan Ramat HaSharon, Israel SEARCHING: KRMARUTSKY, KRIVORUCHKI, Kaunas, Lithuania EISDORFER, Hungary SLOMOVITS, Sighet, Romania |

Hello Rony, I tried without success. The only record I could find is the death registration that you have.

If you click the + sign next to each one there are contact details. I hope that you succeed. Dianne Moses Queensland Australia |

Rony, Moshe, Dianne, Yohanan,
Theresia MERKESTEYN was cremated and her remains placed in a non-sectarian section of Fawkner Cemetery. Her partner Aalbert Arie VAN MERKESTEYN shares the plot with her. Their ashes are at "Garden Of Remembrance 1 Companion Roses, Garden Bed H, Position 16" This is a non-sectarian section of Fawkner Cemetery. When searching for burials and cremations in Melbourne, first try https://www.mck.org.au/search for most Jewish burials, then try https://smct.org.au/deceased-search for Springvale and StKilda Cemeteries (all denominations). This will cover most Jewish cremations. and then https://www.gmct.com.au/deceased which covers most northern suburban cemeteries including Fawkner Cemetery but also many cemeteries that do not have Jewish sections. Some cemeteries have their own search pages including Box Hill http://www.boxhillcemetery.com.au/search/ Brighton Cemetery https://www.brightoncemetorians.org.au/search/ and the two Cheltenham cemeteries https://www.focrc.org/graves.php The biggest problem is that Melbourne General Cemetery (Carlton) does not have a comprehensive on-line database that I am aware of, but the Jewish sections are covered by MCK's database. In the case of Theresia, it was easy to find her using the surname "MERKESTEYN" at https://www.gmct.com.au/deceased but Aalbert requires a search for "VAN MERKESTEYN".
