Birth Record from Kishinev YOSEF Meylman #bessarabia #romania

Yoram Millman

I am getting acquainted with the discussion group. Need help to crack a brick wall.
I am searching for any records from Romania ( Baccau and Monesht)  or Bessarabia ( Kishinev and Kalarash) related to my paternal family
MUHLMANN and GOLDSTEIN ( Romania), MUHLMANN, KHARTON, KARNER, GISTREK (Bessarabia).
The record attached might be of my great grandfather YOSEF MUHLMAN ,father of my grandfather HAIM MUHLMANN .
The birth records does not show the image and I am not clear what are the meaning of the other references it shows,

Will appreciate any help.

Yoram,

This record from Ancestry points to a digitized microfilm that is available on FamilySearch. 2085799/2 means item 2 on film 2085799. In this case, M39 means male birth #39. Here's how to find it.

Go to FamilySearch.org, choose Search and then Catalog and then Film Number. Enter 2085799. Choose Metrical books 1829-1915, from the Jewish congregation in Kishinev. You'll then see a list of films, and 2085799 Item 2 corresponds to births in 1859. Click on the camera icon. You'll see 1006 images. The black images mark the beginning and end of each item. Scroll down until you see the black image for item 2 (frame 380).  Click to enlarge the image and advance through the frames until you find male birth #39 (frame 405). The first two columns on the left of each page are the birth numbers, first female and then male. The record is in both Russian and Hebrew. It's faint, but you can adjust the brightness and contrast using the tools in the upper right of the film window. I downloaded the frame and am attaching it.

Alan,

Thank you so much helping me getting me to view the record.
I am still having trouble adjusting the brightness to enable reading but I am sure that will solve the issue.
It is the first time I use the discussion group for my own research and your quick response amazed me.
Be safe

Yoram,

this is in ancestors website,  but if you go to JewishGen.org and do a search for same person, you will get also a link to an image at FHL collection.
It might not be easy to find exact image, but it tells you the microfilm #, Item #... from the link you go directly to the beginning of that Microfilm at FHL...  slide to Item # (=2) and you also have the registration # of the record M39, and that you could find...
I downloaded the image you need, and attaching it here.

All the best,
Yefim Kogan
born in Kishinev

Thank you Yefim,

As you can see, I also got earlier from Alan Shuchat a step by step instructions how to trace the record.
I looked at the record but  the link to crack the wall is missing.
None of the family names I mentioned in my original inquiry appear,
Are there other records to search for like Census reports /

I am impressed of the quick response I am getting from the group. Looking forward seeking your support.
Thank You !Stay safe !
