entry no. vs. death certificate no. #records

Trudy Barch

I am using FamilySearch and find death information about my great-uncle in Chicago.  It gives an Entry number.   Is that the same as a Death Certificate No.?

Thank you for your explanation if this is the same or different information.

The entry number isn't the certificate number.

That number is the entry within a batch.

For example, a batch may have 100 images/documents and each specific one of that batch is the number that's called the entry number.

I hope I had explained this okay via text... :-))

I'm not the highest experienced expert with FamilySearch, but I try to learn what I can as I use/encounter something.

Good Luck! :-))
