Free book with more than 50 testimonies from Jewish survivors from Belgium #holocaust

Reinier

In April I published the book ''From the Children's Home to the Gas Chamber, and how some avoided their fate.''
It is a book about Belgium with a focus on the stories of child survivors. I conducted interviews with these survivors (born between 1923 and 1943), resulting in about 50 testimonies that feature in this book. The survivors talk about their lives prior to, during, and after the war. Many survivors lived in Belgian orphanages during or after the war, including the following orphanages: Meisjeshuis (Antwerp), Tiefenbrunner, Wezembeek, Aische-en Refail, Baron de Castro (Etterbeek), Les Moineaux (Uccle), the orphanage at the Lange Leemstraat (Antwerp) and the orphanage at the Generaal Drubbelstraat (Antwerp), also known as Manaster orphanage.

If you would like to receive a free digital copy of the book, you can send me a message and I can send you the PDF-file of the book. The book is also available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Childrens-Home-Gas-Chamber-avoided/dp/B091F5SJLL

For whom who had contact with Reinier in the past, I have a sad message that Reinier passed away March 8 this year.
He was only 25 years old. His book can still be found and bought via the link in his message of July 2021.

A young, kind, talented and wise soul has passed away.

It is with great sadness that I learn about the death of Reinier. I knew him as a devoted and resourceful researcher who generously shared his extensive knowledge. Our families were remotley connected (via the Landau-Hofstatter branch) and thanks to Reinier we reached a whole new level of understanding and visualizing our family history.
I hope there are more Reiniers out there. I suspect he was quite unique. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I am very sorry to read about the death of Reinier.

He contacted me a few years ago, via JewishGen Family Finder, regarding my research of the SIMON family from Cluj. He provided a lot of information. I had some doubts because the relative I knew arrived in Argentina with a different name and birth year. After more research, looks like this relative changed his name and age quite often! Even his daughter was surprised to see all this information. She thought her father went to Belgium only to embark to Argentina.

I thank Reinier for all what he did for my cousin and wish his family the strength needed in these difficult times.

Met vriendelijke groeten,

Margarita Lacko
