Goraj (Lublin Area) Extraction Project Launched #poland
JRI-Poland.org has taken on the project of extracting the surviving Jewish
vital records >from Goraj, near Frampol in the Bilgoraj District within the
Lublin Gubernya. These records were recently "recovered" after being
misfiled and have never been available to genealogy researchers before now.
They were not microfilmed by the LDS church. The years available are
1871-1911 with additional scans planned to appear online as the Polish
State Archives allows.
The 35 most common surnames found in the file are:
BACH, BERGIER, BIRMAN, BLUGMAN, CHAMITA, CYTRYN, DORFKIFER, FARBER,
FELDMAN, FLIKER, FOGELMAN, GELDMAN, GLIKMAN, GOLDMAN, GONIKMAN, GUF,
GUTERMAN, JEGERMAN, KRAWIEC, LERMAN, LEWENZON, LEWINZON, LOMP,
NESTELBAUM, PELC, REDLICH, REGEN, ROZENBERG, ROZENZON, RYTMAN,
TAUBLIB, WAJNBERG, WAJS, WAJSTUCH, ZYSMAN
Eventually the Goraj file will be place online with links to the scanned
images, but in the meantime, I would be delighted to explain to you how
you can receive extracts and access the images before they go online.

Lublin Archives Project Coordinator and Goraj Town leader
I know this is an old post but i just joined the message boards. I'm researching my husband's family - Nestelbaum - from Yanow (Janow). I've tried searching endless tips but haven't come across any birth records for a grand-father or great grand-father. Have these documents come online yet?
There are many NESTELBAUM entries in the Jewish vital records of Janów Lubelski in both the
online and offline Jewish Records Indexing - Poland (https://jri-poland.org/index.html) database.
For information on the records, contact the town leader listed on the "Your Town Page" at:
