Helping me decipher/identify two addresses in Belarus #translation
rharpaz@...
I need help identifying two addresses:
First is a yiddish letter fragment, dated about 1900; I posted this weeks ago but would like to try to get additional input: the letter states: "...has 4 sons and one daughter, and all live in the suburb XXXXX, and..." (referring to a neighborhood in the outskirts of Grodno). Can anyone decipher/translate the missing word for me?

Thanks for your suggestions!

The second is a few screen shots from one entry on a manifest upon arrival in NYC in 1914, it looks like "Govin, Grodno" to me but I cannot find any such community. Any ideas?
Thanks for your suggestions!

Could it be Gorin
When I googled "Gorin, Grodno the following link appeared, to a book by Thomas Knox called Over land through Asia; ... http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/13806
it had passages referring to a "Russian village of Gorin..." and another quote, "at Gorin the river is two or three miles wide and makes a graceful bend. ." . "
In Jewishgen's Town Finder database searching for a town phonetically like Gorin came up with: Žarėnai, Lithuania, 55°50' N 22°12' E, 146 miles WNW of Vilnius. Other names: Žarėnai [Lith], Zharan [Yid], Żorany [Pol], Žarėnų, Zharenai, Zharenay, Žarienā,
C1950: Žarėnai Soviet Union,
C1930: Žarėnai Telšiai Lithuania
C1900: Zhareny, Telshi, Kovno, Russian Empire
Other results were for places in Germany, Netherlands and Austria
Hope this helps, good luck with your search

Thanks, Jean! While the handwritten word looks much more like Govin, if I cannot identify such a place, than that might be a reasonable alternative, so I will consider it. Thanks for these leads!
