How to find your town's JG Research Division or SIG - (Using JewishGen's Communities Database) #general

If you want to find out if there’s a JewishGen Research Division or other outside group that covers your ancestral town, here’s an easy way to do it….

  1. Go to JewishGen’s Town Finder at https://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/Search.asp and enter your town name.  Click on the “Start the Search” button and find your town listed on the next screen.
  2. Click on the JewishGen logo and that will take you to your town page.
  3. Scroll all the way to the bottom right of the page and you’ll see entries for “Additional Information” for your town.  If the town is covered by a RD/SIG, it will be listed there with a link.

The Town page has lots of information on the history of the town along with all the other resources that are in JewishGen that relate to that town.  Personally, I think this is probably one of the most helpful, and underutilized resources in JewishGen!

Good luck with your research!
