Join the Israel Genealogy Research Association (IGRA) for our upcoming free webinar “How a Nice Jewish Boy who Started Life
in Cheder Ended Up Being a Doctor to the Last Tsar” by Dr. Harold Rhode on December 11, 2022, 7 pm Israel Time, 12 pm ET.
How did a Jewish boy who started his life in "Cheder" end up by a series of fascinating coincidences as a doctor to the
last Tsar and his entourage? We will follow the escapes and adventures of him and his family. They totally threw themselves
into the elite Russian society and did everything they could to be accepted. They assimilated and lived very well at first.
But all in vain as a result of World War I, the Bolshevik Revolution, the Holocaust, etc.
Besides our genealogical journey, we will learn where to find the non-vital records stored in the Tsarist and early Soviet
periods, the 1930s in Nazi Germany, and Lodz Nazi Ghetto archives.(The doctor was a brother to a great-great-grandmother of mine.)
Dr. Harold Rhode was an advisor on Islamic Affairs in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense for twenty-eight years.
He also served as a Turkish Desk Officer at the U.S. Department of Defense, as Advisor on Islamic Affairs at Policy
Planning Staff, U.S. Department of Defense and in the Office of the under Secretary of Defense for Policy.
A renowned expert in Islamic history and culture with rich academic experience in elite institutions. Harold Rhode, PhD
is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Gatestone Institute, a Fellow at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA),
Senior Fellow at Sino-Israel Global Network & Academic Leadership (SIGNAL), and was a visiting professor of Islamic History
