JGSCT Program, April 16, 2023 @ 1:30 pm ET #announcements #education #events
The Jewish Genealogical Society of Connecticut is pleased to again virtually host JGSCT member Marian Burk Wood on Sunday, April 16, 2023. She will present Researching Military Records and More on Fold3.
The program begins at 1:30 pm. Sign on to Zoom (registration required, see below) at 1:00 pm to chat with the JGSCT board, members, and attendees.
The Fold3.com website is a gateway to millions of military records and more, including naturalization documents, city directories, and some Jewish collections, all useful for family history research.
This program provides an overview of Fold3’s wide-ranging genealogical content and then demonstrates, step by step, how to navigate the site, with specific examples of research strategies for military/non-military documents.
Attendees will also learn how to create or expand memorial pages for ancestors who served in the military, accessible to anyone who searches on Fold3. Special note: Connecticut residents can access Fold3 remotely, for free, through the CT State Library.
Born in the Bronx but transplanted to Connecticut, Marian Burk Wood is the author of the popular genealogy book, Planning a Future for Your Family’s Past. She is an experienced speaker and a long-time blogger about genealogy issues and methodology at https://ClimbingMyFamilyTree. blogspot.com
Marian earned an MBA from Long Island University and a BA from the City University of New York. She has been researching her family tree for 25 years, with a special interest in preserving and sharing family history.
Visit the JGSCT home page, https://www.jgsct.org/, for registration information. JGSCT members attend for free. There is a $5 charge for non-members.
