Name changes #ukraine #germany #dna

I am wondering if there are any sort of searchable records of name changes in Germany. I have a suspicion (derived from a series of Ancestry.com DNA matches) that an ancestor migrated from Ukraine to Germany in the mid-19th century and adopted a Germanic name: in particular, I speculate that the ancestor was probably named Luchansky in Ukraine and changed his name to Lilienthal after moving to Danzig.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
