I have a NYC death certificate from 1922, and am trying to make out the name of the funeral home/Undertaker.

Although the name is illegible, the address looks like 228 Lexington Ave in Manhattan.

Please see attached Death Certificate.

Thanks for any assistance.

Try Washington Cemetery - they might have the record of the Funeral Home
Can also try YIVO

Gary,

The name looks like WODISKI to me.  I searched Ancestry's NYC directory database for 1922 by using a soundex search.  I found this:

Name:  Morris Wodiska
Residence Year:  1922
Street Address:  2073 Th Av
Residence Place:  New York, New York, USA
Occupation:  Undertkrs
Publication Title:  New York, New York, City Directory, 1922

The address is different, but he could have moved, or merged his business with another.

Hope this helps,

Sherri Bobish
