The December 2, 2022 edition of the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza carried a legal notice from the Regional Court for Central Łódź [Sąd Rejonowy dla Łodzi-Śródmieścia], Eighteenth Civil Division, on behalf of the State Treasury as represented by the Mayor of Łódź, indicating the Court’s intention to declare the following individuals deceased. This is part of a legal procedure that will allow the city of Łódź to take title to their unclaimed property. Before the city can take title, the law requires that an effort be made to locate the owners of record or their heirs. The legal notice satisfies that requirement - even though it is highly unlikely that any living heir will read a notice in a Polish newspaper. That is why I post these notices here on JewishGen, in the hope that a legitimate heir might have a chance at recovering something of all that we have lost. The people involved are:
Icek PIOTROWSKI, son of Lajb & Szajndla (née FELDON), born on November 2/14, 1887 in Łódź;
Brandla (née KALIŃSKA) PIOTROWSKA, daughter of Hersz & Chaja Sura (née OFENBACH), born on December 2/14, 1897 in Łódź;
Jakub Dawid PIOTRKOWSKI, son of Icek & Brandla (née KALIŃSKA), born on May 7, 1922 in Łódź;
Estera PIOTRKOWSKA, daughter of Icek & Brandla (née KALIŃSKA), born on August 8, 1924 in Łódź.
The last known residence of all of the above was Łódź.
The Court calls upon any of the above or their legal heirs to make themselves known to the Court within three months of the publication of the notice, otherwise they will be presumed deceased. In contacting the Court, reference should be made to
