Pomorzany (Pomoriany) 1845 Cadastral Map – now on the Gesher Galicia Map Room #poland #galicia #ukraine

New on the Gesher Galicia Map Room: An 1845 cadastral map of the
center of Pomorzany (now Pomoriany in western Ukraine): https://maps.geshergalicia.org/cadastral/pomorzany-pomoriany-1845/ It's an unusual record, held in a Polish national archive despite its geographic subject being located in Ukraine. Only a single sheet of the full map is available, but that sheet fortunately covers the center of the town, and features the market square, two churches and a large synagogue, a mill, many residential and commercial buildings, plus the castle for which the town is still famous. The page title calls it a copy, and both the sheet format and the label lettering suggest this excerpt was drafted well after the 1845 survey map from which it was copied. The original paper map is preserved by the Archiwum Narodowe w Krakowie; the digital copy was brought to our attention by Philip Rosinsky.
