Searching for Yakov Kotlan from Ozorków, Poland - translation required #poland #yizkorbooks #translation

Hi everyone,
I have quite a big ask for a translation.  I am a volunteer researcher in the UK for the Jewish History Association of South Wales.  We are writing the life story of 102 people on a memorial board in a South Wales Synagogue who died in the Holocaust.  We have completed 101, but the last name is giving us trouble.
I have found his family in Ozorków, Poland.  His name is Yakov (Jacob) Kotlan.  His wife is Esthera (Esther) Kotlan, and they had 3 sons - Alter, Leib and Nusen.  These boys in turn had children and wives, some I have found recorded in the Lodz Ghetto.
But we want to know what became of Yakov and his wife and sons.  He was born on 12th January 1853, so it is possible he died before the war.

I have been sent the Yizkor book for Ozorków, and I cannot read it or find a reliable Google translation.

Would any members here be willing to help to see if they can find a reference to any Kotlans in the following book? Thank you all so much.

Have you tried to find if this Yiskor book has been translated into English?

Alternatively - do you have a photograph of how the surname could be spelled in Hebrew letters?  I have tried quite a number of variants, and found nothing.

Laura,
A soundex search finds several people with surname spelled Kotland
from Ozorków that are listed in:

Poland, Łódź Ghetto Transportation Lists, 1939-1944 (USHMM)

Łódź, Poland, Vital Records of Jews in the Łódź Ghetto, 1939-1944 (USHMM)

Łódż, Poland, Ghetto Hospital Death Records, 1941-1944

I did not look at every record, but at least one gives their father's name as Alter.

Thank you for your work in remembering each person.

I don't sorry. The only official document I found for them was in Russian.  I have had Kotlian suggested as the Russian way of spelling it but that found nothing in English language searches.

The Ozorków Book of Residents, which is at the Łódź Archive, identifies, by family, the persons who lived in Ozorków from 1901 through 1931.  Among many other things, it includes death dates through at least 1925.

You can email the Łódź Archive (kancelaria@...) and ask it for pages from the Book of Residents for the Kotlan family.  You can identify the Book of Residents as Księga ludności stałej miasta Ozorkówa (39/2379/0).  If the Archive finds the family in the Book of Residents, it will email you instructions for about making a small payment to get a copy of the record.
