The woman's name of ZETA #names

Marilyn Weinman

Hello all !

I recently had a document partially translated, and the name Zeta came up. I checked the Jewish database of names, but nothing came up. Does anyone know what the woman's name of ZETA may be in English ?

Thanks,

There is of course the Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones. This is the only instance I know of this name.

Zeta and Zita is a non-Jewish European name, which seems to be found mostly in central and east Europe. Not very common but I had a neighbor in Israel named Zita who was born in Russia in the 1960s.
Zita of Bourbon-Parma (died 1989) was the last Empress of Austria, so the name goes pretty high ...

I grew up in University City, MO, USA, a suburb of St Louis with a large Jewish population. One of my classmates in the l950s was a girl named Zeta Zlepper. Yes.
In those days, pupils were arranged alphabetically in the classrooms, so the W's and Z's would be close by. She's a lovely person, married now many years, with a last name closer to the front of the alphabet.
