There is a word that was used in a Yiddish poem from the Balti/Beltz, Bessarabia/Moldova Yizkor book that appears to come from a different language:
From the busy –[“femintener” - not sure about this word]  train station, they carried

In their arms the singer Yosef Shmidt.
Any ideas?

Could it possibly be the Spanish “ferrocarril”? That means railway. Altho why they would use a Spanish word, I don’t know.
