Dear Genners, My query about Chaja APOTHEKER whose daughter Dora REIZMAN died in 1921 in Tecso/Tyachiv (sub-Carpathia) ended with positive results. It is due to some constructive suggestions from several Genners who put me on the right track. I feel obliged to share with you some hurdles I had to overcome which may help some of you in the future. I found several variants of her daughter’s name on the “Sub-Carpathia Jewish Births” list: REIMAN Dvora, REINMAN Debora, REIMAN Debora, REIMANN Debora, REIMAND Bora/Roza. Her birth place came also in several versions and locations: Isztuk or Isztruk (no idea what it means), Lisko or Liska, Galicia and on “Maramaros Vital Rocords Births” list I found Liszka-Gaczorszag. Well, the correct spelling is REINMAN and she was born in Lesko, Galicia to Chaja APOTHEKER who is related to my wife’s family as I suspected. Gaczorszag is the Hungarian name of Galicia. Thanks to all those who helped. |

Isztuk or Isztruk may refer to one of my towns - Ustrzyki Dolne - which was called Istryk by the Jewish residents. My grandfather always called his hometown Istryk. The town was in the Lisko district.
