Online Safety at Groups.io

We're committed to keeping Groups.io safe for everyone, including under-18s.

How to report

  • Use the Report button next to any message or page.
  • Or email safety@groups.io with a link, description, and screenshots if possible.

We prioritise child-safety and other illegal content. For urgent child-safety concerns, mark your report as Child Safety.

Our rules (short version)

  • No pornography or nudity (see Adult Content policy).
  • No grooming, sexual exploitation, or harassment.
  • No content encouraging self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
  • No terrorism, fraud, or other illegal activity.
  • No copyright-infringing uploads.

We enforce these rules. We remove illegal or prohibited content once we're aware of it and may restrict or suspend accounts.

Other platform-wide restrictions

In addition to the safety rules above, Groups.io does not host certain types of groups (e.g., pornography/adult content, harassment communities, copyright-infringing media sharing, extremist or conspiracy-focused groups, anti-vaccination promotion, directory-spam groups, and stationery/graphics-sharing groups). These product rules are enforced at group creation and throughout a group's life. See the list you'll review during group creation for examples.

For parents and young people

  • Never share private info (phone, address, school) publicly.
  • You can block direct messages from non-members, or block all DMs.
  • Use the Report button or email safety@groups.io if anything worries you.

About this page

We follow the UK Online Safety Act in a proportionate way for a small service, including risk assessments and procedures to address illegal content and protect children. If you have questions, contact Mark Fletcher, Online Safety Contact, safety@groups.io.
